HOW MUCH OF THE SERIES WILL YOU SUBTITLE?

Just Stupid Mario Brothers itself: aka Episodes 1-75 and the movie.

I will consider subtitling further series in the StMB catalogue after I have finished Episode 75, but make no promises.

I will NOT subtitle bloopers that are in their own videos, such as with Seasons 4 and 5. As of right now, I AM subtitling bloopers that are tacked on at the end of videos, as in Seasons 1-3. If I change my mind about this commitment, I'll let you know.

STYLE GUIDE:

I decided to use the Described and Captioned Media Program's style guide because they focus on captions that are accessible for Deaf and HoH people. I am not able to follow the style guide exactly due to Youtube's limitations, but I'm doing my best.

SUBTITLE PROGRAM:

I used Aegisub. If it's worked for decades for fansubbers, it'll work for me.

STUPID MARIO BROTHERS WIKIA SHOUTOUT:

The first season was transcribed on the wiki! I have been referencing this heavily for Season 1 to cut down my workload: why retype when I can copy+paste!

You can find the transcripts here, or linked from their individial episode page. Good luck working out which episode is which, though. I'm not in charge of wiki's naming/sorting conventions. WHY aren't the Episode numbers anywhere in the title? Thsi drives me bonkers.

The srt-style captions on the wiki (episodes 11-16) were edited to match my style standards, but otherwise used as-is. Thank you so much to Space Hunter M, who I presume did the subtitles, though I had to remove your credit from the srt.

WHY ARE THE SRT FILES NAMED LIKE THAT, ANYWAY?

Like "Stupid Mario Brothers - Episode 1-Yx8KDImBNgA", for example, if you don't know what I'm referring to. The number/letter string is the video's unique URL on youtube, after the "watch?v=" part of the URL. This is an extra measure of making sure you have the correct subtitles for the correct video.

Also, it was what the files were named when I downloaded the episodes. Because VLC will automatically open srt files alongside videos if they share file names, I named the srt to match the video file.

WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST UPLOAD TO OPENSUBS?

I tried! But the navigation for an obscure youtube series (as opposed to a movie or super popular TV show) is kind of bad. AND. When you download subs from the website it just gives you a zip of a single srt file!!! Instead of just the srt file!!! Too much effort for too silly of a payoff.
